THE CLIENT’S SITUATION

A Clear Vision That Needed the Right Hands

The client behind Shootzu knew exactly what they wanted. They came to Zluck with a fully prepared set of UX and UI design slides and a complete user flow diagram, having already thought through the product in detail. What they needed was not strategic direction. It was a development team that could take a well-defined vision and execute it to a high standard, while upgrading the product onto a new and more capable technology stack.

They had an existing platform with real users and real data. The goal was to move to an improved version with a better technology foundation, new features, and a more refined user experience, without disrupting the people already using the product. That made the engagement as much about careful migration as it was about building something new.

The client selected Zluck after reviewing the company’s portfolio and website. Clear, prompt, and helpful communication during the enquiry stage, including direct involvement from Zluck’s director, gave them the confidence that they were making the right choice.

THE CHALLENGE

Build the New, Preserve the Old

The central challenge was delivering a high-quality new platform while ensuring a seamless transition for existing users. The client had real user data and payment information in an existing database that needed to move to the new system without loss, corruption, or downtime. A migration like this has to work perfectly the moment the system goes live, because the users on the other side are real people who expect their accounts, history, and data to be intact.

Beyond the migration, the client had prepared their designs in Adobe XD and needed them converted into clean, working, production-grade code. This required not just technical accuracy but design sensibility, knowing when a small adjustment to a font size, a button, or a mobile interaction would improve the experience beyond what was specified.

HOW WE BUILT IT

Design to Code, With Improvements Along the Way

Zluck converted the client’s Adobe XD designs into fully working code, building both the frontend and backend of the new platform. Throughout the process, the team proactively suggested design refinements, adjustments to font sizes, how buttons were displayed, and improvements to the mobile experience, that elevated the product beyond the original specification. These were not changes the client had to ask for. The team identified them and brought them forward.

The engagement was structured around a clear, high-level milestone document that the team followed closely and frequently delivered against ahead of schedule. A dedicated project manager kept communication flowing, relaying client feedback to the team and ensuring change requests were actioned quickly.

For the launch, Zluck wrote custom scripts to migrate all user data and payment information from the old database to the new system. The deployment was seamless. Everything worked from the moment the platform went live to real users.

What Was Delivered

Full Platform Rebuild on a Modern Stack

The complete Shootzu platform was rebuilt on an improved technology stack, with both frontend and backend developed by the Zluck team. The new foundation gives the product better performance and a stronger base for future growth.

Pixel-Accurate Design Implementation

The client’s Adobe XD designs were converted into clean, working, production-grade code, with proactive refinements to typography, button presentation, and mobile interactions that improved the experience beyond the original brief.

Seamless Data and Payment Migration

Custom migration scripts moved all existing user data and payment information from the old database to the new system. The transition was flawless, with everything working correctly from the moment the platform went live.

New Notification and Engagement Features

The new platform launched with new notification options and features for users, supporting better engagement and a richer experience than the previous version.

THE TEAM

A Dedicated Team of Ten

The engagement was led by Zluck’s director and a dedicated project manager, with a team of around eight specialists working underneath, spanning frontend, backend, design, and QA. The whole team worked together smoothly, with the project manager acting as the single clear point of contact who communicated all feedback and change requests to the team and ensured they were actioned promptly.

The client specifically highlighted the team’s ability to work independently and make sound product decisions. The development team took it upon themselves to improve the user flow and make design refinements before presenting milestone updates, and the client found those independent decisions to be consistently sound and well judged.

Client Reviews

“Communication and their ability to simply and professionally get things done to perfection. I am also very impressed that the development team took it upon themselves to add improvements to the user flow and make those decisions prior to showing me milestone updates. All those improvement decisions made independently of my brief were perfect and made sense. I honestly cannot think of anything they can improve upon. Our project was completed perfectly, ahead of schedule, and we could not be any happier with the outcome.”

RESULTS AND IMPACT

Growing Usership and Positive User Feedback

Since launching on the new platform, with its new notification options and features, Shootzu has seen its usership grow with a consistent flow of traffic. Feedback from users has been extremely positive. The platform is live today at shootzu.com, serving Australia’s photo and video production community.

The project stands as a clear example of how Zluck works best with clients who bring a clear vision: take what they have prepared, execute it to perfection, improve it where the team sees an opportunity, and deliver ahead of schedule without surprises.
