THE CHALLENGE
Four Products in One, With AI Throughout
This was not a single social feed with one clever feature. It was effectively four interconnected products in one platform: a multi-format social feed, a societal sentiment analytics dashboard, structured communities with real governance, and a native AI assistant integrated across everything. Each of these is a substantial build in its own right. Making them work together as one coherent product was the real challenge.
The AI layer was the most demanding piece. The client did not want AI as a standalone chatbot in a corner. They wanted it woven through the product: generating summaries, follow-up questions, and related resources for content, assisting users as they write, powering content moderation, categorising video, and running as a full conversational assistant with saved, shareable sessions. Building AI this deeply into every surface, while keeping it fast and useful, required careful architecture and a real understanding of how the AI should behave in each context.
Underneath all of this sat the standard expectations of any modern social platform: feeds, profiles, messaging, notifications, and real-time interactions. These had to be solid and seamless, but they were the baseline, not the differentiators. The hard, distinctive work was in the layers above them
